Description

Learn about the life cycle of the frog in Shann Jones’s debut children’s book A magical story introducing children to the frog’s life cycle, The Magic Garden: Frog tells the story of Isabella, Elis and Macsen as they explore Mamgu’s garden before something magical happens…

Mamgu’s three grandchildren are regular visitors to her ‘magic’ garden. One day, they discover a new arrival in Gugu’s fountain, a frog. Little did they know that this new arrival would take them on a magical adventure through the frog’s lifecycle, learning many weird and wonderful facts about them along the way.

• A magical story of the frog’s lifecycle.
• A portion of the royalties from sales of this book will go to the work of FrogLife, a British wildlife charity committed to the conservation of amphibians and reptiles.
• Perfect for outdoor learning and exploring lifecycles of some of nature’s weirder creatures.

Shann Jones says, ‘Learning an appreciation of the natural world through play and imagination is a timely message for the children’s market today. How better to experience this than to travel into the world of the frog – to actually become a frog – and see things through a frog’s eyes?‘
Along with being a useful teaching aid and an entertaining story, this book is also an extremely personal project for author Shann Jones. The magic garden in the story is heavily inspired by her own garden in Llandysul, Ceredigion, and the grandchildren featured are also based on her own grandchildren, also named Isabella, Elis and Macsen.
The story is accompanied by brilliant illustrations from Hannah Rounding, who visited Shann’s garden and met her grandchildren on several occasions whilst working on the artwork. The book is completed with a guide for children to create their own magic garden, encouraging them to explore and have fun with nature.
