Children s Laureate

Every two years, a well-known and respected children's Author is chosen to be Children's Laureate.

The Laureate spends their time "in office" highlighting Children's Books, and helping to get more children into reading, by championing their own type of Children's books, encouraging schools to get reading into the classroom, and by making sure that every child can find the book they love, to kick-start a lifetime of a love of books!

In 2015-2017, it's the turn of Chris Riddell. Primarily an illustrator, Chris is the artist behind the Edge Chronicles series, and also wrote and illustrated the Ottoline series and Goth Girl.

More information on the current Children's Laureate and the Laureate Scheme can be found here (opens in a new window)

We have compiled special pages dedicated to the Children's Laureates (past and present), so that you can browse and buy their books.

We've also linked to some cool resources for activities and events, as well as games and information on the Children's Laureate and what they're doing for YOU.

If you want to organise us to visit your school or nursery with books by the Children's Laureates, and to hold an event about the scheme, then please get in touch with us, either by email ( or by telephone (07900 352710)

We can cater for any age, and most class sizes.
